Biography
Nadia Aftab, P.Eng., PMP, currently works at CBC/Radio-Canada as a Technical Project Lead for Governance & Engineering, leading various projects involving design and implementation of radio, television and digital production and distribution systems. Nadia’s expertise has seen her to play a critical role in multiple Olympics Games, Digital Storage System, Automated Playout System, Digitization, Optimization of file based workflows, and Production Media Asset Management.
Nadia is a strong believer in supporting and promoting her profession. In addition to being an active member of IEEE, Nadia currently serves as Vice-Chair for the East Toronto Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and as Membership Manager for the Toronto Section with Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE).
Nadia is a passionate champion of diversity, equity & inclusion and currently serves on a joint committee with CBC management to identify challenges, workshop solutions and implement action plans for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at CBC/Radio-Canada.
In her spare time, Nadia enjoys tasting culinary delights be it either here in Toronto or abroad, and keeping up-to-date on the most recent releases on Netflix. Nadia also volunteers with the annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Nadia holds a BASc in Electrical Engineering from University of Toronto and a M.Eng. in Computer Networks from Ryerson* University.
