Active Silicon Photonics Fabrication Workshop 2023

Room: TBD, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

(https://www.cmc.ca/active-silicon-photonics-fabrication-workshop-2023/) (May 15-19) The symposium is collocated with the CMC Microsystems training workshop in silicon photonics. This workshop combines lectures with hands-on practice in silicon integrated photonics design and offers the opportunity for chip fabrication in a foundry. This highly successful training program has been running for more than a decade. The instructors this year include Profs. Lukas Chrostowski (UBC), Wei Shi (Laval), Joyce Poon (U of T), David Plant (McGill), Bhavin Shastri (Queen’s), Sudip Shekhar (UBC), and Milos Popovic (Boston University), as well as engineers from CMC Microsystems and professionals from industry. To join this training workshop, please register at the link above. For details on the course content, please contact Jessica Zhang (zhang@cmc.ca), or Prof. Lukas Chrostowski, Prof. Wei Shi, and Prof. Joyce Poon. Humber IEEE Smart City meeting

Room: J233A, Bldg: J233A, 205 Humber College Blvd, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, M9W5L7

Meeting organizing smart city project plan, meeting new volunteers and delegating tasks. The current Smart city project is "Smart City Planter" It is a Raspberry Pi Pico W based BLE Mesh device that monitors the soil condition, controls watering and communicates with other plants. It has an RGB LED output to light up the planters and tamper detection. We need people of all stages of the design process. The original design is complete. We need to design the schematic, the circuit board, the 3D case, the software and the BLE stack, debugging/testing. This is a multi-year project and I hope that there will be many people interested in assisting with it. Once it is completed, we can take it to the next level with IEEE and hopefully get a contract to build them. Room: J233A, Bldg: J233A, 205 Humber College Blvd, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, M9W5L7

Humber College Arduino/Microcontroller Hardware & Electronics Study Workshops.

Room: J233a, Bldg: H, 2nd Floor, 205 Humber College Blvd, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, M9W5L7

Weekly, In-Person Arduino/RP2040/ESP32 Workshop with various peripherals and how to interface them. Beginner to Expert level. LED Displays, Infrared, Matrix Keyboard, sound, DHT sensors, Servos, LED Strips, Analog Inputs... and whatever else the students bring to the table. Also, students can come in for tutoring, work on homework and class projects. Room: J233a, Bldg: H, 2nd Floor, 205 Humber College Blvd, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada, M9W5L7
