The IEEE Toronto Technology Award is meant to recognize the outstanding technologies developed by private-sector companies in the Greater Toronto Area. Technologies are judged not only on the basis of their degree of technical innovation, but also through their potential for social benefits, such as improved quality of life, reduced waste, reduced inequality, reduced negative environmental impact, job growth, etc.

The technologies considered fall broadly within the scope of electrical engineering or computer science, as represented by the areas of interest of the various IEEE Societies. They should represent products that are currently on the market (i.e. not just in development). Technologies which are not available for sale, but are used internally by a company in its internal processes are also considered (e.g. a customized CAD tool for microchip optimization). Companies of all sizes will be considered (from 1-person consulting firms to large multi-national organizations) as long as the technology is developed by engineers in or near Toronto.  Nominations are currently closed by will later re-open for submission via this form.

About IEEE Toronto:

The IEEE (The Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology. With roughly 400,000 members world-wide and around 4,000 members in the Toronto Area the IEEE represents professionals working in all fields of electrical engineering and related areas. The technical societies of the IEEE are the leading publishers of technical information in electrical engineering. The Toronto Section of IEEE brings together engineers from industrial, academic and government backgrounds, as well as engineering students, and serves in the dissemination of technical and professional information to its members and the wider profession, supports future engineers through an extensive scholarship program and also serves as a hub where electrical engineers can form connections with each other.
