Naeimeh Najafizadeh

Naeimeh Najafizadeh is a third-year PhD candidate in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, where she works on distributed coordination algorithms for multi-agent robotic systems. Her research focuses on enabling teams of robots to work together in complex environments, with applications in search and rescue operations.
She holds an NSERC CGS-D scholarship and has a background in aerospace engineering, having worked on satellite attitude control systems during her graduate studies. Before starting her PhD, she was an active volunteer with the IEEE Winnipeg Section for over three years, where she served as Webmaster and Membership Development volunteer, organized IEEE Day events, and helped grow the section’s online presence.
Naeimeh is passionate about promoting women in engineering and bringing interdisciplinary perspectives to technical communities. She recently joined the IEEE Toronto Section Newsletter team as an associate editor and is excited to contribute to a platform that connects and informs the local IEEE community.
Outside of research, she plays guitar, enjoys tennis, and has a real love for the outdoors. She spends a good chunk of her free time hiking and biking through trails, always happiest when she is surrounded by trees and far from the city.
