I am Reza Debaj and hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Toronto Metropolitan University, where my research focused on sustainable service pricing in cloud ecosystems. With twelve years of experience as a University and College Instructor in Computer Science and Computer Engineering Departments and seven years of solid industry experience as an IT Developer and System Analyst, I have been able to demonstrate my expertise in both academic and practical settings.

In the academic realm, I have taught a wide range of core Computer Science courses, including Data Science, Data Structure, Databases, Project Management, Software Analysis and Design, Object-Oriented Programming, and Advanced Web Application Development. I have also been actively involved in research, with a particular interest in Data Science, Cloud Computing, Object-Oriented Programming, and Advanced Database Designing. I have designed, developed, and delivered some Data Science courses.

My industry experience has been equally fulfilling. I have significantly improved the foreign exchange reporting system in the largest private bank in Iran. I have also analyzed, designed, and implemented several banking applications, using state-of-the-art technologies and techniques to enhance their performance. My professional journey reflects a strong commitment to academia and industry, focusing on continuous learning, teaching, and research in Computer Science and Engineering.

I began collaborating with IEEE in 2016 as a volunteer, responsible for setting up events. Subsequently, I took on the role of Industry Vice-Chair in the Instrumentation & Measurement Chapter in IEEE Toronto under the supervision of Professor Dr. Davoudpour. After some time, I transitioned to the position of Vice-Chair of the Magnetics Chapter under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sadeghian. In 2017, with the support of Dr. Sadeghian, I began my service as a Chair in the Toronto IEEE Magnetics Chapter.

While a Ph.D. candidate at Toronto Metropolitan University, I tried to actively set up events in favour of students’ involvement at IEEE, setting up over 90 events since 2017. I received an Appreciation of Service Award from the IEEE Toronto Section in 2020 for my leadership and dedication. In 2022, I became the secretary of Toronto IEEE. After a few months, I gave away other responsibilities, including the Magnetics chapter chair position, focusing more on my secretary’s responsibility.

Throughout my tenure at IEEE, I have been a staunch advocate for and supporter of Women in Engineering activities. I was honoured to receive a certificate of award for my leadership and service from IEEE Canada. I also endeavoured to use my position at IEEE to amplify the voices of women in the country where I grew up during their pursuit of democracy and freedom in the Women, Life, Freedom Rise.
