IEEE VT Distinguished Lectures (2016-2019)
The following are selected past events by IEEE VT Distinguished Lecturers.
Date: Oct. 4, 2019
Distinguished Lecture talk by Prof. Geffrey Ye Li, Fellow, IEEE, Georgia Tech
“Deep Learning based Wireless Resource Allocation”
In this talk, Prof. Li presented their research progress in deep learning based wireless resource allocation. He first presented their research results in using deep learning to solve linear sum assignment problems (LSAP), reduced the complexity of mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP), and introduced graph embedding for wireless link scheduling. He then discussed how to use deep reinforcement learning directly for wireless resource allocation with application in vehicular networks.
Date: Sept. 19, 2019
Distinguished Lecture talk by Prof. Rosa Zheng, Fellow IEEE, Lehigh University
“Stochastic Dynamic Programming for Network Resource Allocation”
In this talk, Prof. Zheng presented an application of the SDP method to wireless network resource allocation and develops a 3-layer decomposition algorithm to achieve global optimum solution with affordable complexity.
Date: Sept. 26, 2018
Mini-workshop, Distinguished Lecture series
“Social networks, IoT, and mobile edge caching”
Prof. Phone Lin, Fellow IEEE, National Taiwan University, presented “A peer-to-peer architecture for heterogeneous social networks”;
Prof. Jelena Misic, Fellow IEEE, Ryerson University, Toronto, presented “Design alternatives for reliable and scalable data acquisitions from IoT domains”;
Prof. Lian Zhao, Senior Member IEEE, Ryerson University, Toronto, presented “Mobile edge caching, centralized and distributed strategies”.
Date: March 23, 2017
Distinguished Lecture talk by Prof. Michael (Yuguang) Fang, Fellow IEEE, University of Florida, USA
“Connected things for intelligence, communications, computing and control (ICCC)”
In this talk, Prof. Fang presented an overview of some “connected” issues on connected things (Internet of Things) and then discussed the design challenges and their potential solutions.
